MATERIALS

POLYCARBONATE
Polycarbonate lenses are virtually unbreakable and block 100% of harmful UV light making them

the safest lens available. Fabricating your customer's prescription in a lens material that is one third the

weight and thickness of standard plastic, means the eyewear will be more comfortable and look great.

HIGH INDEX (Thin Lenses)
This hi-tech plastic lens material reduces lens thickness and weight. High index lenses are ideal

for high astigmatic corrections. High index lenses provide slightly flatter curves; therefore, they provide

better cosmetics than glass or plastic lenses.

PLASTIC (Hard Resin)
Plastic lenses are half the weight of glass, and can be tinted to almost any color or darkness; however,

they are not as impact resistant as Polycarbonate or Trivex™ .

TRIVEX™
Trivex™ lens material is the world's first tri-performance lens material:  offering a triple combination of features never before found in a single material; superior optics, impact resistance, and ultra light weight.

GLASS
This type of lens material is scratch-resistant and offers good optics; however, glass lenses are twice

as heavy as plastic lenses and offer reduced impact resistance.

LENS TYPES

SINGLE VISION LENSES
Single vision lenses are all-purpose eyeglass lenses for people who wear glasses for distance or near vision. Single vision lenses are available in all lens materials.

ASPHERIC LENSES
This lens provides for a thinner, lighter in weight design versus the traditional spherical lenses and it eliminates the bulging appearance of thick lenses for people with stronger prescriptions. Aspheric lenses are especially beneficial for high plus prescriptions. (Farsighted)

PROGRESSIVES (No Line Bifocals)
The multifocal lens of choice, progressives are most

like natural vision with three ranges: near, intermediate and distance. This "no line" lens allows the patient to adapt easily and is cosmetically appealing. Progressives come in all lens materials and are available in aspheric form.

FREE-FORM LENS TECHNOLOGY

Freeform, or direct, surfacing makes it possible to grind the front, back, or both sides of a lens blank as needed to produce sophisticated lens designs. A computer numerically controlled (CNC) freeform generator creates the lens surface according to the desired parameters, which may include optics-influencing variables beyond the usual sphere,

cylinder, and axis of the prescription.

NEAR VARIABLE LENSES
These lenses are useful for a wide range of activities, while being specifically fabricated for the best vision. Typically these lenses are designed for use on a computer to alleviate eyestrain. NVLs are entered into the ROE system with the doctors multifocal Rx & near P.D. The lab calculates the proper power.

FLAT-TOP BIFOCALS
As its name suggests, the distance and reading portions of this lens are separated by a visible flat line. Flat top bifocals are available in every type of lens material.

TRIFOCALS
This lens is available in a variety of designs with a flat-top. Trifocals provide an additional segment to the bifocal lens, which allows clear vision at arm's length.

TREATMENTS

SCRATCH COATING
Reduces and minimize scratches on plastic lenses.

FOUNDATION® HARD COAT
More scratch resistant than other major super hard coatings Foundation Hard Coat offers outstanding performance in Thermal Shock tests, unsurpassed adhesion, durability and mechanical resistance that significantly extends the lifetime of all plastic , Polycarbonate, Hi Index, and Trivex TM lenses.

UV400
Exposure to UV light has been linked to cataracts, retinal damage, and macular degeneration. Polycarbonate and Hi Index lenses have built in filters that block UV light.

ANTI-REFLECTIVE
Anti-Reflective lenses improve vision clarity by allowing more light to reach the eye. AR dramatically improves the appearance of lenses by making them less reflective and improves night driving by reducing night glare. Our Teflon and Carat Advantage lenses feature increased scratch protection and easy cleaning.

TINTS
Colored pigment added to lenses for fashion or function.

TRANSITIONS™
These lenses adjust to light conditions and offer 100% UV protection. Transitions™ lenses are activated by UV light and are virtually clear indoors. Transitions™ lenses are available in Polycarbonate, Hi Index, Trivex™ and Plastic lens materials and can be ordered for almost any prescription.

POLARIZED LENSES
Polarized lenses are absolutely the best option for sunglasses. Special filters in the lens work to eliminate annoying glare, which can sometimes prove dangerous. Polarized lenses are perfect for fishing, water sports and winter activities. These lenses block 100% of harmful UV light and are available in polycarbonate, plastic, Trivex™ and glass.

COPPERTONETM

CoppertoneTM polarized lenses from Vision-Ease are specifically designed to address the issue of high energy visible light. HEV light is high frequency light from 380 nm to 530 nm in the visible spectrum. HEV light has been implicated as a cause of age-related macular degeneration. CoppertoneTM Lenses  block 100% of the UV light and boast both the Skin Cancer Foundations Seal of Approval and the ADA Seal of Acceptance.
